On January 24, 2021 Anna Marie Alsip age 88 went home to be with the Lord. Anna was born Anna Brickey on September 20, 1932 in Salem, Indiana. She was the second of 4 daughters born to Wilburn and Edith Brickey. Upon graduation from Salem High School in 1950, Anna began working as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company. While working there she met Roy Alsip on a blind date and they were married on April 14,1956. Their two oldest children, a son Steve and a daughter Jacki were born in Salem. In 1960 they moved their family to California where their daughter Kathi was born. Although she swore she was as close to Hades as one could get, she came to love the desert and the valley, hence her living here for 60 years. Known by her friends as Annie and family as Mamaw, she was a stay at home mom until her children were in their later years of school. She took her first job in California as a part-time librarian at Meyer Memorial Library in Calipatria. Annie later worked as a weigh master/clerk for Producers Cotton Oil and Pacific Molasses in Calipatria. Annie's employment history spanned a period of close to 45 years. Annie was active in her children's youth activities, including Fremont PTA, Seaview Little League, Cub Scouts, 4H, Blue Birds, Brownes/Girl Scouts and attended sporting events throughout their school years. Annie was a member of the Calipatria Community Church serving as secretary/treasurer of the Women's Guild for several years and was member of the Women's Auxillery for the Calipatria Volunteer Fire Department. In her final years, Annie suffered from Dementia, which took it's toll on her health, eventually resulting in her passing. Annie took her final Breath at home with her family near her. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Alsip; parents, Wilburn and Edith Brickey; father and mother-in-law and spouses, Melvin and Martha Alsip; Idela ad Hess Barnett; sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Howard Wingfiels; brothers-in law, Walter Middleton, Lowell Little, Elton Cox and daughter-in-law Mercedes Alsip.
