It is with great sadness that we announce our mom Josefina Ulloa Castillo passed away (not related to COVID-19) on February 7, 2021, at the age of 89 to be with our Lord. Josefina was born in Tepic, Nayarit on January 23, 1932 to Domingo Ulloa and Maria Davalos. She worked for 15 years in the produce industry, packing asparagus at various packing companies in the Imperial Valley. She loved gardening and all plants and flowers. She was a devoted believer of the Virgin of Guadalupe and was a parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in El Centro. Her husband, Luis Octavio Castillo Soto, and her only brother, Antonio Ulloa Davalos preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children, George (Maria) Maldonado, Irene (Mike) Torres and Luis O. Castillo Jr.; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 sister-in-laws, and several nieces and nephews. Josefina was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was nicknamed "Nana Fina" by her grandkids. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and going to the casinos with her friends and son-in-law. Services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro for viewing and rosary from 8 to 10 a.m., followed by mass at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in El Centro, and Interment at Mt. View Cemetery in Calexico.
