1937 - 2020

Sara Mendoza Sanchez, 83, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2020 at her home in rural Holtville, CA with her family by her side. Sara was born on December 4, 1937 in the town of Las Trojitas, located in the State of Michoacan de Ocampo, Mexico. In 1960 she flew from Coalcoman to Mexicali with the love of her life, Jesus Sanchez Ontiveros. They married and lived in Mexicali until 1962, when they immigrated to the United States and settled in Holtville, CA. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother. She was a Catholic woman of faith who believed in the power of prayer. She was always quick to offer help. She enjoyed taking care of her husband and took pride in cooking every meal of the day. Sara will always greet you with a smile and welcomed you by offering a home cooked meal. She was a kind, yet strong woman; she will make her thoughts known and will give sound advice. Her beloved Coalcoman was a frequent topic in her conversations. She treasured her white doves, tropical birds and dog. Sara was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. Sara is survived by her husband, Jesus Sanchez Ontiveros; her daughter, Laura Sanchez Guerrero; son-in-law, Jesse Guerrero (Mo); her granddaughter, Sara Jessica Ochoa of El Centro; her brothers, Roberto, Lauriano Jr., and sister, Alida of Coalcoman, Michoacan, and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Lauriano Mendoza and Trinidad Mendoza; her brother, Alberto and her sister, Agapita. Services for Sara Sanchez will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020 at St. Joseph's parish in Holtville, CA. A parish rosary will begin at 10 a.m. with mass to follow at 11 a.m. Burial service at Evergreen cemetery in El Centro, CA. Lunch to follow at St. Joseph's parish hall in Holtville.
