MANUEL ESPERANZA Obituary

MANUEL ESPERANZA

Dec. 5, 1929 - Jan. 16, 2013

Visitation will take place Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 6 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico for Manuel Esperanza, age 83, who passed away Wednesday, January 16 of natural causes. Mass will commence at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 24 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico with Father Emilio Magaña officiating.
Manuel was born December 5, 1929 in Calexico (Mt. Signal) and was married to Frances Zamudio Esperanza for 63 years. Manuel served his country in the National Guard for some time, before beginning work as a truck driver, a job he had for 30 years.
Manuel had many passions in life. He enjoyed going to the deserts and mountains, going on roadtrips, which included airshows and boating, and going to the swap meet where he was known for making a deal. Manuel also enjoyed watching Lucha Libre, WWF, Storage Wars and History Channel, hanging out with the "Westside Gang", and spending time with his family, friends and pets, Sailor and Shadow.
Manuel was preceded in death by his son, Richard Esperanza. He is survived by his sons, Manuel Esperanza Jr. of Calexico, Fernando Esperanza of San Diego, Steve Esperanza of El Centro, Albert Esperanza of El Centro, and David Esperanza of Los Angeles; daughters, Patty Albañez of San Diego and Rose Esperanza of San Diego; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Humane Society, as Manuel was an animal lover.
