ROBERT VILLALOBOS Obituary

ROBERT RICHARD VILLALOBOS

Sept. 4, 1961 - Feb. 10, 2015

Robert Richard Villalobos, known as "Gunny V" to his fellow Marines, "Richie" to his parents and sisters, "Pop" to his children, and "Tata" to his grandson. He couldn't be prouder of all those roles.
He was born September 4, 1961 and was taken all too soon February 10, 2015. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant in September of 2000. Most recently he worked for the Imperial County Sheriff's Department. Some of his happiest moments were when he was in uniform. He loved football and his beloved San Diego Chargers, but never more than he loved his children. He was a friend to everyone and everyone was his friend. He had a great sense of humor and genuinely enjoyed making people laugh. He had the personality of a rock star with a smile to match. He was a deeply loved by all who knew him and will be missed more than words could say.
He is survived by his father, Robert (Liz) Villalobos; his mother, Esther Villalobos; sisters, Michelle Villalobos Hennicke and Roberta Villalobos; children, Reuben, John Robert Jr., and Stephanie Villalobos; and his grandson, AJ Montiel.
His life was the "candle in the wind" that blew out too soon. We will love you forever, may you rest in peace.
His memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in El Centro, CA on February 23, 205 from 6 to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m., Mass will be held on February 24, 2015 at 10 a.m. with funeral service following at Evergreen Cemetery.

Dear Villalobos family, You are all in my prayers as you mourn dear Robert.
He was a good man and always had a ready smile for all. May he rest in peace. I worked with him in Orange Unified School District when he was there and retired one month before he did. Will continue to pray for his soul.

February 28, 2015

Alright Robert, who're we trying to kid? Everyone says 'rest in peace'. But, we know better, don't we? First, there's no "rest" in you... You're always busy, always at it and never slow down. Second, you retired, you didn't stop being a Marine. We know from the 3rd verse of the Marines' Hymn what awaits -- probably a 'Sergeant of the Guard' post. So, Carry On, Marine!

Robert was VP when I was president of CASTO chapter 2. I slept at night because Robert had everything under control when it came to putting the Driver Workshop together. He worked so hard and made it look so easy. He also did an amazing job for the School Bus Roadeo in Orange County. Robert, I know you are wearing wings. They are an extension of the work you did here on Earth. Thank you for all the blessings you bestowed upon us while you walked with us. To Robert's family: Thank you for sharing him with us. He was a blessing to the school bus community. My heart goes out to you in this time of sorrow. I am sending prayers your way,
