Mrs. Ruth Brumfield Randolph died peacefully early Monday morning in her home surrounded by family members. Mrs. Randolph a long-time resident of Jackson is survived by her four children: John Brumfield Randolph of New Orleans Louisiana Magda Marie Randolph of Ashville North Carolina Paul Anders Randolph of Jackson Tennessee and Rita Randolph McCall of Jackson Tennessee. She also leaves six grandchildren; Rachel Anne McCall Michael Jason Randolph Daniel Bryant Randolph Hugh Hampton McCall Roy Randolph Krampka and Julia Randolph Krampka; two great-grandchildren Kendra Randolph and Cambria Randolph; two sisters Mrs. Lonnie Brumfield Burbank and Mrs. Nell Brumfield Smith both of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Hughes Randolph and her son Michael Robert Randolph. Mrs. Randolph lovingly considered the spouses of her children as her own; including Cheri Haley Randolph James Stuart Reid and Thomas Hampton McCall. Mrs. Randolph was born January 8 1918 in Liberty Mississippi. She attended Southwest Junior College in Summit Mississippi where she was valedictorian of her class and an outstanding member of the college basketball team. She attended Draughns Business College in Tupelo Mississippi. After graduation she was employed by Central Service Company in Decatur Alabama. From the late 1940's through 1988 Mrs. Randolph and her husband Jack Hughes Randolph operated Randolphs Nursery and Greenhouses and were widely known throughout west Tennessee for their beautiful flowers and landscaping. For a number of years she wrote a weekly gardening column for the Jackson Sun Newspaper. In her retirement years she became interested in genealogy researched her family tree several generations and wrote two books documenting her work 'Brumfields Revisited' and 'Growing up in Mississippi.' She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and an active participant of several local bridge societies. Funeral services will be held at Arrington Funeral Home on Wednesday October 1 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation on September 30 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery on Hardee Street in Jackson. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association St. Judes Childrens Hospital or
