A. E. Smith, Jr.

Services for A. E. Smith, Jr. are at 3 p.m. Friday, August 23rd at Toone Baptist Church, with burial in Rainey Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, August 22nd at Shackelford's in Bolivar from 5-8 p.m.

He died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in Jackson.

Born March 18, 1928 to the late Ambrose E. & Iva Myrtle Ervin Smith in Finger, he lived most of his life in Toone, and was married to his wife of 63 years, Nancy Elizabeth Jones, who survives. He served in the Army during the Korean War and worked at Amira in Bolivar as a plant supervisor. He also farmed cattle. He was the Mayor of Toone for 20 years and was responsible for the building of the Toone City Park. He was a member of Toone Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer for many years.

Survivors are his wife; daughter, Karen (John) Lambert of Toone; son-in-law, Curtis Stack of Toone; 5 grandchildren, Stephen Lambert, Melissa Lambert (Bo) Hazelwood, Ashley Lambert (Ryan) Zawacki, Lindsey Stack (Greg) Workmon and Jordan Stack (fiancée, Mallory Moore); and 2 great-grandchildren, Will & Tate Zawacki.

Memorials may be sent to Toone Baptist Church.
