William Baylus "Billy" Clemmons

Jackson - William Baylus "Billy" Clemmons, 91, of Jackson, Tenn., died April 22, 2021, in Jackson.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson.

Mr. Clemmons was born March 14, 1930, in Jackson to James V. and Verna Warren Clemmons.

He attended Jackson High School, Union University and Ole Miss. He served two years in the Marine Corps.

He was the longest serving member of First Baptist Church, Jackson.

He regularly had breakfast with a number of friends who affectionately named their group "Uncle Billy's Breakfast Club." He loved playing golf and was the longest serving member of Jackson Country Club. He was known for his generosity and was a friend to everyone. He will be deeply missed.

Mr. Clemmons was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laura Jobe Clemmons; granddaughter, Lauren Clemmons; and brothers, Joe and C.L. Clemmons.

He is survived by a daughter, Angelyn (Ernest) Herndon of Liberty; son, Bill (Lynette) Clemmons of Lakeland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Dr. Andy (Paulette) Coy of Jackson and Cole Clemmons of Fayetteville, Ark.; sister, Dorothy Berryman of Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Andrew Coy; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Jackson.
