Viola Bernice (Taylor) Buck, 83
Attica - Viola Bernice (Taylor) Buck, 83, Independence, died at 4:35 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Williamsport Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Bernice was born on July 15, 1929, in Braidwood, Ill. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Gladys L. (Mickle) Taylor. She graduated from Attica High School in 1947. She had lived most of her life in the Attica area, living in Independence since 1953.
Bernice married George Gerald Buck on March 2, 1947, in Riverside. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1996.
Bernice was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church in Independence where she had previously served as choir director. She was a member of the St. Vincent Hospital Guild and had worked with on the Potawatomi Festival Committee for 13 years.
Bernice was a member and past chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 52 of Attica for over 50 years. She was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3318 of Attica.
Surviving are a son, George Alan (wife-Diane) Buck of Lafayette; three daughters, Margaret (husband-Rick) Rennick of Linden, Sheila (husband-Donald) Reitz of Pine Village and Cynthia (husband-Jeff) Munson of Attica; four brothers, Charles Taylor and Morris Taylor of Lafayette, Chauncy Taylor of Attica and George Taylor of Williamsport; four sisters, Ruth Lewis of Merriville, Ava Moody of Attica, Judy Fuller of Battle Creek, Mich., and Norma Taylor of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony "Tony" Lee Buck; a sister, Pat Sellers and a brother, James Taylor.
Services will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Monday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. with Pastors Judy Fuller and Bryan Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. with a VFW Ladies Auxiliary Service at 4:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Riverview United Methodist Church or Guardian Angel Hospice.
