David V. Johnson
Attica - David "Cocky" Virgil Johnson, 64, Attica, passed away at the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at 10:13 a.m.
David was born in Williamsport, Indiana, on September 19, 1948. He was the son of the late Virgil Constantine and Alma (Hartz) Russell Johnson. He was a life resident of Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1966. He later received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Indiana State University. He was Cum Laude of his graduating class at Thomas Cooley Law School.
David was a commissioned officer of the U.S. Army and served during the Viet Nam War.
He was a member of the Attica First Lutheran Church; member of the Eagles Lodge # 2596 of Attica. He was a former member of the Harrison Hills Country Club and enjoyed playing golf. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. More recently he enjoyed raising a vegetable garden near Attica.
On January 25, 1990, David married Julie A. Brown in Lafayette.
David leaves behind his wife, Julie of Attica; two daughters, Mandy (Andy) Schweiss, Newburgh, IN and Lauren (Steve Bossman) Strasburg, Crawfordsville; a son, Nicholas "Nick" Johnson, a Junior at Ball State University in Muncie, IN; a granddaughter, Claire Schweiss, Newburgh, IN; his sister, Nancy Roberts, Algonquin, IL.
Friends may gather at the Attica First Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 12th from 1:00 p.m. until the memorial service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Carolyn Lesmeister officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Public Library or the Attica First Lutheran Church.

To Mrs. Yvonne, Samieka and all loved ones of Mr. David. What a year you had!! My prayer is that you never give up on your faith in GOD__HE never abandons us. Allow yourselves to draw nearer to HIM. Cherish your fondest memories of Mr. David, which will also help to sustain you. GOD's care for our loved ones is far superior to any efforts we can make. Let The Lord comfort you.
