William Edward Remsburg, 84
William Edward Remsburg, 84, of Lafayette, passed away February 18, 2013, with his children and grandchildren by his side. He will be fondly remembered for his humor, love for family and passion for music. Born on March 2, 1928, in Kentland, to the late Jay and Clio Remsburg. He graduated from Fowler High School. Bill studied Music Education at Indiana University. He continued to be an avid IU basketball fan. Bill played French horn in the Army band from 1948 thru 1952, serving in both Korea and Japan. He pursued his love of music playing in the Kokomo, Lafayette and Zionsville community bands throughout his life.
On May 2, 1953, he married Phyllis Eileen Eller. They raised their family in Lafayette. Phyllis passed away October 6, 1997. Bill was employed at Eli Lilly from 1956 - 1989. In May 1997, he moved to Indianapolis, where he lived with his daughter and granddaughter. On Aug 12, 2006, he married Lynn Raber; she precedes him in death. He most recently lived with his son in Lafayette.
Bill is survived by his four children, William (Tonya), Robert (engaged to Allen), Bradley (Kim) and Beth (Damen); eight grandchildren, (Jason, Bobby, Jesse, Amy, Joshua, Brooke, Bradley and Liesl); and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister, Joan Brown and survived by siblings, Jeanette Walburn, Rosalie Smith, Judy Strasburger and Jim Remsburg.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service, Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Windler Funeral Home, Fowler. Burial will be at the Montmorenci Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lafayette Citizens Band or Zionsville Concert Band in William's name.
