Lafayette - Legendary Lafayette radio personality Bob Vizza passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 2:39 PM at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
Bob was born December 29, 1953, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Anthony B. and Marjory (Irven) Vizza. He loved this community, and the community loved him. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh to brighten their day. As a child, he fell in love with radio because the on air personalities kept him company at night during his frequent stays in the hospital.
Bob was a student of the bible, steadfast in his faith, a friend to many, a listener to all and encouraged others to build a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Bob is survived by his wife of 28 years, Chris Morisse Vizza; sister, Virginia (Charles) Vizza Nash of Lafayette; niece, Jocelyn Nash of Ypsilanti, Michigan; nephews, Troy Nash of Brookfield, Illinois, and Robert (Amanda, daughter Scarlett) Nash of Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, April 24, 2018, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Faith Church Auditorium, 5526 State Road 26 East, Lafayette, Indiana 47905. A Memorial Service of Bob's Life will take place 10:00 AM Wednesday morning at the church. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Indiana Donor Network (www.indianadonornetwork.org). I just learned of Bob's passing recently. I worked with Bob for many years and we developed a strong friendship working together at several radio stations. He will be missed throughout the Lafayette area. RIP Bob.

I listened to Bob for years I was sad to hear of his passing! Prayers to his family I was an avid fan and years ago I requested song and it was out of rotation so Bob gave me the disk! I thought he was so sweet to do that! Prayers!

Bob, you truly were a legend and THE nicest person anyone could have met. What a hoot we had at WKHY. You were a great person and always a pleasure to listen to on the radio! Although our paths have diverged, mostly by distance, in recent years, I remember fondly heart to heart discussions Bob and I had during some stressful times in his life. So sorry to hear that Bob has passed on. We met back in the early 70s when I worked part-time at WVTL in Monticello doing ad sales and commercial spots and was amazed at Bob's voice and his undying energy and patience to help train a novice like me. I've been away from Lafayette for 35 years but would find him on the airwaves whenever I came back home. Rest in peace.
