Barb married Virgil Siegman on June 21, 1952. They had been married almost 51 years at the time of his death in March 2003. During their marriage, Barb and Virgil had no children, but always enjoyed time with their extended family and often outdid each other in spoiling their nieces and nephews. They also enjoyed travelling, fishing, mushroom hunting, dancing, and were involved in the American Legion and the VFW.

Barb worked as the benefits administrator at Anheuser Busch, which later became A.E. Staley, from 1970 until her retirement in 1995. After her retirement, Barb enjoyed helping with the activities at VFW Post 1154 and the 40 & 8 Voiture 364, including BINGO and cooking. She served as VFW treasurer and as secretary of the Le Femme of the 40 & 8 for several years. She also was a flag bearer in the 40 & 8 Grand du Indiana. In addition, Barb was active in the Montmorenci Alumni Association, where she served as secretary and treasurer. Barb was an avid Purdue sports fan.

Barb will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, her loyalty to and love for her friends and family, her joy of life and her persistence and determination.

She is survived by brother Fred and his wife Shirley, of Phoenix; Brother Charles "Chick" and his wife Betty of Pratt, Kan.; Sister Shirley and her husband Ray Saltsman of Medaryville, Ind.; Brother Russell and his wife Deanna of St. John, Kan., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil; parents, Charles and Opal Shelton; step-father Lowell Best; brothers Harry and Robert Shelton and sister Linda Hopkins.

Funeral services will be held, at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein, Ind., Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at 10 a.m., with Rev. John Randall officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Montmorenci Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the nurses' training scholarship fund at 40 & 8 Voiture 364 in Lafayette.
