Attica - Betty LeRea Wells Abolt, age 91, a former Newtown native and currently residing in Autumn Trace, in Attica, passed away, 10:43 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018 in Franciscan St. E. East Hospital in Lafayette. She was born in Manson, Indiana on July 26, 1926, the daughter of the late Roy Van and Gladys LeRea McCormick Wells. She married Milford Abolt in Newtwon, May 20, 1944 and he preceded her in death.

Betty was a graduate of Richland Township High School. She retired as a 'final inspector' for Radio Materials Corp in Attica. She had been a long time and active member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Newtown. She had served as Sec/Treas. and Sunday School teacher, Memorial Fund Recorder and served on the entertainment committee. She had also served as an assistant leader for Brownie Scouts and as a Cub Scout Den Mother. Betty was an active member of American Legion Aux #394 in Newtown, where she served as President and Chaplain. She also was a 'Red Hatter'.

Surviving are: three daughters; Carolyn (Don) Glenn of Marietta, GA, Phyllis (James) Jordan of Columbus, GA, Christina (Scott) Clawson of Veedersburg and a son; Jeff (Dianna) Abolt of Attica. Grandchildren: Eric (Patricia) Glenn and their children Luke and Liam, Brett (Jennifer) Jordan and their children Alexander, Bowman, Anna and Violet, Sean (Cherish) Jordan and their children Autumn and Emelia, Julie (Brandon) Baker and their children Winston and Holly, Tina (Greg) Kadziolka and their children Ashley and Grace, Lisa (Jeremiah) Robinson and their children Cayden and Logan, Stephen (Lisa) Abolt, Jason Grant (Garnet) Dark and daughter Ember, Adam Nicholas (Mary) Clawson and their children Xander, Kyler and Winter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael Alan Abolt and grandson Brian Glenn.

Visitation hours are 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with funeral services, 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating.
