Charles Myer

Lafayette - Charles "Charlie" Teel Myer, 71, passed away Sept. 8, 2018 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Charlie was born February 27, 1947, in Flora, Ind., and grew up on farms in Carroll and Tippecanoe Counties, Ind. He graduated from Dayton School in 1965 and joined the Indiana National Guard, serving at Ft. Sam in Houston. He married Phyllis Mellott Myer on April 23, 1967.

Charlie worked at Eli Lilly Tippecanoe Laboratories for 33 years in a variety of roles, retiring as a Senior Project Manager in 1998. In retirement, he did small general construction jobs and worked as a bicycle mechanic at Hodson's Bay bicycle shop. An avid biker, Charlie loved riding scenic byways and drawing reference maps, resulting in a book, Back Roads of Indiana - A Collection of Paved Road Maps.

In 2010, Charlie and Phyllis moved to Union, KY. He dearly loved his family and considered his 51-year marriage, two children and four grandchildren to be his greatest accomplishment.

Charlie is survived by his wife Phyllis; daughter Stefanie Adams (Guy) of Cincinnati, OH; son Brian Myer (Julie) of Macomb, MI. He has four grandchildren: Gretchen, Isaac, Corey and Carter Aleck. Charlie was preceded in death by his twin sons, Charles Scott and Stephen David, and his parents, Millard Myer and Alice Miller.

A funeral service will be held Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 3610 S 18th, Lafayette, IN. Friends may call starting at 9 a.m. A Celebration of Charlie's life will be held at Crossroads Church, 828 Heights Blvd, Florence, KY on Sept. 22 at 11 a.m.
