Doris Marie (Bowman) Meador
MEADOR - Doris Marie (Bowman) Meador, daughter of Orville W. and Margaret S. (Fall) Bowman, was born September 28, 1932 near New Carlisle, Ohio. After experiencing Alzheimer's for several years and suffering a stroke, she passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the age of 80 years 11 months and 21 days.
In January of 1948, she with her family moved to Modesto, California where she accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized on April 18, 1948 and remained faithful until death. At the time of her death she practiced her faith in the fellowship of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, New Conference.
On October 1, 1950 she was united in marriage to Dallas W. Meador. They started their married life on a farm near Cutler, Indiana sharing their lives together nearly 63 years.
Mother was a godly woman of unfeigned faith and prayer with her Bible often laying open on her lap. She was a merciful Mother, not known to complain about anything, possessing a gentle spirit and a mild, peaceful temperament. She served her Lord by joyfully blessing others with her beautiful singing, sewing garments, making dress patterns, providing cheerful hospitality to all who came to her home and gracing her table with delicious food and beautiful flower bouquets from her tenderly cared for gardens.
She is survived by her husband, Dallas, and five children, Michael Lynn, wife Martha; Judith Ann, husband Merle Flory; Mark Wayne, wife Karen; John Robert; and Brent Alan, wife Pamela; and two sisters, Sarah Lee Switzer (husband David) of Modesto, CA, and Mary Jane Root (husband Benjamin) of Mesa, WA., eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
Preceding her in death was an infant son, David Eugene, in 1952 and one infant granddaughter, her parents and a sister, Susan Joan Bowman.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 21, from 3:00-5:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel and at the graveside on Sunday, September 22 at 2:00 PM prior to burial. Burial will be held at 3:00 PM, on Sunday, September 22 at Middlefork Cemetery, south west of Rossville. Family and friends are invited join for a memorial service at 4:00 PM at the Middlefork meeting house following the burial. Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
