Elizabeth Vanderkolk, 91

Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Vanderkolk, 91, of Brookston, died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Nursing Home of Delphi.

  She was born February 8, 1921, in Lafayette to the late John P. and Esther (Nufer) Seiters. She attended school at St. Boniface in Lafayette.

  Her marriage was to Charles Francis Vanderkolk at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette in 1940. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1977.

  She had worked at Jessop's Box Co. in Brookston, and then for 25 years in housekeeping at the Indiana Veterans Home of West Lafayette.

  She was a member of St. Ann's Church and Shrine of Lafayette.

  Betty enjoyed flower gardening, reading, shopping and traveling in the western United States.

  Surviving is a son, James Vanderkolk (wife: Doris) of Brookston, two sisters, Edith Morehouse (husband: Ron) of Lafayette, Virginia "Cookie" Webster of Brookston, two grandsons, James Vanderkolk Jr. ( wife: Leah) and David Vanderkolk, both of Colorado, two great-grandsons, Ryan and Jason Vanderkolk, a great-granddaughter, Audrey Vanderkolk and numerous nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma King and Helen Freeman.

  Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. A rosary service will be held prior to the visitation at 4:45 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at St. Ann Church and Shrine (612 Wabash Ave. Lafayette, IN 47905) with Father Dominic Young officiating. Interment to follow at Brookston Cemetery.
