Gladys (Cradic) Calloway, 96

Gladys (Cradic) Calloway, 96, formerly of Morocco, IN went to Heaven peacefully at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center in Brook, IN Sunday morning, Nov. 25, 2012. She was born Nov. 23, 1916 in Piedmont, MO, one of nine children to the late James Terrell and Rena Cradic.

Gladys married Clarence Calloway on June 8, 1938. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1977. Gladys and her husband Clarence moved to Lake Village, IN in 1950. They made friends with Father Scholl and his housekeeper Paulene Keifer. As their health failed, Gladys provided many a home-cooked meal for them. Gladys loved to make quilts and made them as gifts for family and friends. In her life she made well over 100 quilts that grace the beds of many today.

Gladys is survived by two sons, Cecil Calloway (wife: Kim) of Battle Ground, IN and James Calloway (wife: Dee Ann) of Lowell, IN. She is also survived by two brothers, Jim Cradic of Woodstock, IL and Cecil Cradic of Ft. Smith, AR, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two daughters, Carlene Brown and Judy Crawford.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco, with Rev. Greg Waggoner officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Village Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to George Ade Memorial Health Care Center or the Humane Society. Share memories and condolences online at
