Lafayette - Jane Holt (Kimbrell) Schwartz, 94, of Lafayette passed away Tuesday, August 07, 2018 at St. Mary Healthcare.

Jane was born Gertrude Jane Holt, July 18, 1924, in Selma, Indiana, the eldest of 6 children, to Paul J. and Dorthea Leeper Holt. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1942.

Jane married Leslie M. Kimbrell in 1942 (deceased September 11, 2007); they divorced in 1956. She worked at Southworth's Bookstore in West Lafayette, and she went to night school and learned to be a "keypunch operator." She worked at National Homes Acceptance Corporation, and later at Kappa Delta Pi National Honorary.

On January 22, 1972, Jane married Walter P. ("Red") Schwartz in Lafayette, and they resided in Eureka, California, until 1995 when they returned to Lafayette. Walter preceded her in death March 7, 2009.

Jane was a 50-year member of Brown Street United Methodist Church and Hope Chapter #5, Order of Eastern Star. While living in California, she was a member of Camellia Chapter O.E.S. where she served as Worthy Matron.

Her 3 children, Leslie D. Kimbrell, Sr., of Monticello, Susan J. McCord of Mesa, Arizona, and Sarah J. Hicks (Robert) of Lafayette, survive. Jane is also survived by her sisters, Jeanne Goodwin of Muncie, Rebecca Strange of Brookston, Martha Pechin of Greenfield; and one brother, Harry Holt of Bunker Hill. Also surviving are 3 step-children, David Schwartz (Diana) of Olympia, Washington; Nancy Colbert of Eureka, California; and Steven Schwartz of California, along with numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Charles F. Holt.

Funeral service will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 with Eastern Star service at 10:00 AM at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with a one hour visitation prior. Pastor Ryan Traeger will officiate. The family thanks the staff of St. Mary Healthcare for their kindness and caring during the last year of Jane's life.
