Fowler - Jon "Gary" Martin, 78, of Fowler, formerly of Remington, passed away at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, after an extended illness.

Gary was born December 21, 1939 to the late Theodore Leonard and Dora Magdalene (Helman) Martin. He was a 1957 graduate of Bradford (OH) High School and a 1966 graduate of Manchester College. He married Charleen Knochel on August 6, 1966, and she survives.

Gary worked as a computer programmer at National Cash Register (NCR) in Dayton, OH before moving to Remington, where he farmed for several years. He was among the first group of employees hired at Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc., now Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. where he

retired in 2002.

Gary was a member of the Remington United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and was very interested in computers, electronics, genealogy, and music. He collected belt buckles, eclectic brass objects, and paperback books. He had a strong commitment to family and a lively

sense of humor.

He is survived by wife, Charleen; daughter, Tonya (Bill) Remsburg of Washington, IN; and son, Steve Martin of Lafayette. He is also survived by sisters, Carol Price of Arcanum, OH, and Rev. Diane Bell

of Lodi, OH; sisters-in-law, Sandy Whitton and Marjean (Ron) Hathaway of Remington; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding him in death along with his parents are a brother, James Martin; sister, Sharon Plessinger and brothers-in-law Doyle Whitton, Dennis Plessinger, and Terry Price.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM (EDT) Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Remington United Methodist Church. Funeral Service 11 AM (EDT) Tuesday, September 18, 2018 also at the Remington United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeff Smith to officiate. Interment to follow in Remington

Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gary's name to Joyful Journey, 600 Lindberg Rd, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
