Laverna J. "Vernie' (Beason) Fink, 77, rural Williamsport, passed away at the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Friday, August 12, 2016, at 2:48 p.m. She had been in failing health since May.
Laverna was born in her home in Liberty Township, of Warren County, IN. She was the daughter of the late Milton Brian and Della Rose (Kight) Beason. Laverna was raised in Liberty Township and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1957. She later graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Danville, IL. Laverna was a nurse in the OB Department of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville for several years until they closed the OB department at the hospital. She then began working at Lakeview Hospital in Danville in their OB Department and later moved back to St. Elizabeth Hospital to work in the psychiatric department of the hospital until her retirement in 2000.
Laverna was a longtime member of the Hickman Heights Christian Church and sang in the choir. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and painting. Her favorite pastime was babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she dearly adored.
On February 19, 1961, Laverna married Herman "Hermie" N. Fink in the Williamsport Christian Church.
She leaves behind her husband, Herman of 55 years; two sons, Rev. Clint (Mary) Fink, Kentland, IN and Bryan E. Fink, Williamsport; two grandchildren, Andrew (Chelsey) Fink, Williamsport and Randall (Kelsey Altman) Fink, Oxford; three great-grandchildren, Ryeanne Fink, Addalynn Fink and McKyla Fink. She was preceded in death by a son, Tony Fink and her brother, Milton Eugene Beason, along with her parents.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, August 17th, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Hickman Heights Christian Church on Thursday, August 18th, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor David Keeton officiating. Burial will follow in the Rainsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hickman Heights Christian Church.
