Lee A. Dickey Obituary
Lee A. Dickey

Lafayette - On Sunday, July 8, 2018, Lee A. Dickey, loving husband, father, and Papaw, passed away peacefully at the age of 79. Lee was born October 17, 1938, in Patricksburg, IN, to Fay and Dennis Dickey.

Lee had a simple upbringing along with his siblings, Don(deceased), Dean(deceased), Phillis, and Harold, and joined the Marines when he was 18 years old. After his time in the military he began a career with the laborers union in Lafayette, and worked with them until he retired. In 1958, he became a father to his oldest daughter, Paula Hall (husband Bob), and on August, 6, 1966, Lee married Phyllis J. Shoaf, the woman he always said was, "…the best thing that ever happened to me." Together they raised two more daughters, Jodi Hudson (husband Brian) and Cindy Marin (husband Steve).

Lee enjoyed going fishing and mushroom hunting with his nephews, whom he loved dearly, and even got his daughters to join him, as well. He could always be counted on to whip up batches and batches of "Lee's Famous Fudge" every Christmas, and deliver them all over Lafayette in his Santa hat, and flashing red ball that hung from the zipper of his coat. He was also an avid walker at Tippecanoe Mall. At the time of his death, Lee had six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He will be affectionately remembered for his wisecracking wit and prankster ways, and his bravery and dependability.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lee's name may be given to the at www.alz.org. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.

Dress is casual in honor of Lee, as he would only want it that way.
