Chalmers - Ronald "Ron" M. Hill 82, of Chalmers, Indiana, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. He had been a resident of Chalmers for the past 47 years.

He married Helen J. Buck on August 6, 1965, in Battle Ground, Indiana.

He graduated from Battle Ground High School in Battle Ground, Indiana, in 1953. Ron worked as a Farm Foreman for Farm Bureau Co-op Poultry Breeding and Research Farm from 1955-1981. He then went on to work for F.F.R. Corporative, a seed research company, in Battle Ground as a Farm Manager before retiring in 2000.

Ron was very active in the Chalmers community for the past 42 years. He served as Chief for the Chalmers Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. Along with being an active member of the Fire Department for many years, he served as a member of the White County Local Emergency Planning Commission and was a past committee member for the Boy Scouts of America. Ron enjoyed spending time with family, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife Helen J. (Buck) Hill and three children, Sirena J. (Scott) Conway of Georgia, Mike (Jennifer) Hill of Monticello and Brian (Mindi) Hill of Lafayette, and three grandchildren Myca, Grant and Milayna.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and one sister.

A celebration of Ron's life will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 3-5 p.m. at the Chalmers Volunteer Fire Department Building. Friends are welcome to visit with family members and share stories of Ron's many adventures. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chalmers Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 68, Chalmers, IN 47929. Ron's wishes were to be cremated. Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N 9th St Lafayette, IN is charge of arrangements.
