Fannie H. Bingaman Simons

Fannie H. Bingaman Simons, 97, of Delphi, died Wed. Oct. 4, 2017 at 3:25pm at Monticello Healthcare, where she resided. She was born Nov. 4, 1919 in Carroll County, to the late Wilbur & Gertrude Rinier Bingaman. Her marriage was to Fred W. Simons in Peru, on April 8, 1944, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1989. She lived for 15 years in Hoopeston, IL, then moved back to Delphi in 1944. She worked as an operator for the Delphi Telephone Co., and then worked for Dr. Robert Seese, Delphi, in family practice medicine, for 30 years, retiring in 1988. She graduated from Peru High School in 1937. She was a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church, and the Delphi VFW Auxiliary, and the Business Professional Women. While living in Hoopeston, she volunteered for Reader's Route, a tutoring program, that helps people get their GED, as a reading tutor at the John Greer Middle School. She enjoyed sewing & knitting, and loved to play euchre. She dearly loved her family. Surviving: daughters-Nancy & Chal Fowler of Flora, Judy Scherer of Lafayette; son-Mike & Teresa Simons of Phoenix, AZ; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. Preceded by 2 brother's, a son in law Don. Services: Friends may call Saturday from 11:30am-12:30pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Graveside service to follow at Brown Church Cemetery, Rockfield. Memorial contributions to the Carroll Manor Home, envelopes available at the funeral home. http://www.abbottfuneralhome.com/
