Thelma L. Graves, 89

Thelma L. Graves, 89, of Ambia, died at Green Hill Manor in Fowler at 7:38 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 201,2 where she had been a resident the past five years. Thelma was born in Adolphus, Ky. December 29, 1922, the daughter of the late Herschel Harrison and K. Wygal Hinton. She married Harold Leon Graves in Kentucky April 25, 1942, and he preceded her in death July 24, 2003.

Thelma was a graduate of Paducha Ky. High School; a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church; the Order of Eastern Star Chapter of Boswell; the Ladies Aid of the Ambia Christian Church and a member of the Ambia Home Ec. Club as well as being a homemaker.

Surviving are three daughters, Katie Graves Butts (husband: Bruce), of Ambia; Charlotte Graves Meredith (husband: Stan), of Oxford; Patti Graves Looker (husband: Joe), of Clayton; two sons, Leon Graves (wife: Pat), of Danville, Ill.; Herschel Thomas Graves (wife: Karen K.) of Boswell; a sister, Naomi Jarrett (husband Reed), of Hibbing, Minn.; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Atkinson, of Lafayette. Also surviving are five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded indeath by a granddaughter, Becky Bradford; a son, Rickey Jo Graves and a sister, Norma Atkinson.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 4 at the Oxford United Methodist Church, Pastor Linda Sproull officiating, with interment following in Boswell Cemetery.
