Berneice Edna Traeger, 95

Berneice Edna Traeger, 95, of Bloomington Ill., passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Saturday, December 08, 2012, at the Martin Health Center, Bloomington, Ill. Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bloomington Bible Church 1008 E. Emerson St, Bloomington, Ill.; the Rev. Nathan Best and the Rev. Dennis Powers will officiate. Burial will be East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington, Ill. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, Ill. and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to Home Sweet Home Mission, Bloomington, Ill. Berneice was born June 18, 1917, in rural Goodland, Ind. the daughter of the Rev. Peter D. and Mattie Zehr Nafziger. She married the Rev. Frank C. Traeger on June 10, 1950, in Bloomington, Ill. He passed away April 2, 2000.

Surviving are four children, Priscilla (Mark) Mathews, Hillsboro, Ill., Dan (Becky) Traeger, Bloomington, Ill., John ( Margie) Traeger, Normal, Ill. and Rebecca (David) Bathe, of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Danielle ( Jake) Detmers, of Normal, Ill., Andrew Traeger, of Bloomington, Ill., Tim Traeger, of Normal Ill., Pete Traeger, of Normal, Ill., Alex, Christine and Katherine Bathe, of Lafayette.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Vivian and Helene Nafziger; and son David C. Traeger.

Berneice was a faithful supporter of her husband's ministry at the Bloomington Bible Church for which her father founded. She worked in many capacities as Ladies Bible Study, Sunday school Teacher, Choir Director, Pianist and Ladies Missionary Society Leader. Prior to her marriage she taught first through fourth grades for thirteen years in rural McLean County. Berneice was actively involved in supporting her children's educational process devoting much of her time in leadership roles in the Unit 5 Parent Teacher Assoc.

She attended countless musical concerts, recitals and sporting activities of her children and grandchildren throughout the years. Berneice influenced many lives by her sweet spirit and walk with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
