South Bend - Joseph Thompson Cecil 93, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Heritage Point Alzheimer's and Special Care Center.Joseph was born November 12, 1923 in Bardstown, Kentucky to the late Francis and Mary (Thompson) Cecil. He was the sixth of nine children. On September 1, 1947 in Boston. Joseph married Mary (O'Brien) Cecil, she preceded him in death on September 10, 1997. Joseph was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Cecil; daughter, Kathleen Cecil; brothers, Ivo, Henry, Francis, and Samuel K Cecil.Survivors of Joseph include his children, Joan "Jill" Marie Cecil of South Bend, Teresa Marie Cecil (Martin Sennett) of West Lafayette, Michael J. (Elizabeth Anne) Cecil; grandchildren, Devin Cecil-Wishing, Blair Cecil-Wishing, Kara Barth, Brendan C. Sennett, Dylan C. Sennett; and brother, George Cecil and sisters, Teresa Cecil and Margaret Stanley.Visitation for Joseph will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, February 27, 2017 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am in Holy Family Catholic Church. Internment will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery in Plymouth Indiana. There will be no graveside services.In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Boys and Girls Town in Nebraska, 13603 Flanagan Blvd., Omaha, Nebraska 68010 or the Alzheimer's and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, 922 E. Colfax, South Bend, Indiana 46617.Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
