Haines E. McKibbin
Lafayette - Haines E. McKibbin, 95, of Lafayette, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Cumberland Pointe.
Born in Middlebury, Indiana on April 23, 1922. He was the son of Elma and Ernest McKibbin.
On June 1, 1946, he married Maxine Michael in Lafayette.
Mr. McKibbin was a staff sergeant from 1942 to 1945 in the United States Air Force. He served in the China, Burma, India theatre, and Tinian Island in the Pacific.
Mr. McKibbin was president of McKibbin Trucking Co., Inc. and retired in 1985.
He was a red coat volunteer for St. Elizabeth Hospital from 1986 to 2004.
He was an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. His dedication to the church was reflected by his involvement as deacon, trustee, elder, and president of the consistory board.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, wife Maxine, and sisters Oneta Moore and Wilmetta Krotki.
Surviving are daughters Elaine Hurst (Jim) of Kokomo, Jane McKibbin of Lafayette, and Beth Smith (Paul) of Jupiter, Florida. Also, surviving are 4 grandchildren, Amy Hoag (Dirk), Alyssa Pearson (Gordon), Brett Smith and Laura Smith; and 5 great grandchildren, Haines, Hillary, and Harrison Hoag, Corbin and Amelia Pearson.
Visitation Saturday December 2, 11a.m. until service at 1 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Pastor TJ Jenny, Ph.D. officiating assisted by Rev. Nancy Eberhard.
The family would like to acknowledge the special care provided by the Franciscan Health Hospice of Lafayette.

I helped take care of haines a couple years ago and i will always remember him as a very loving, easy going, and cheerful man. I enjoyed getting to start our days together and end them together. I also will remember him as the only person i would eat cherry pie for. Sorry to hear of his passing.
