My earliest memory of Jeanne was during an after-school visit to see Steve in 1968 when we were perhaps 10. I was heading home and as I came up the stairs from the basement I passed through the kitchen and the biggest kitchen table you ever saw on my way out the door. There were Sladek kids everywhere moving in every direction preparing for dinner and so many conversations and questions and Jeanne was leading it all. One of the kids was playing the piano adding to the commotion. Someone gave me a job and I fell in line and helped. I never saw anything like it-- and 50 years later I still recall that moment. Such a great family--such great parents in Jeanne and Ron. Miss those days.

Besides her family and religion nothing made Jeanne Sladek happier then making art and reflecting on the creative process. I loved seeing that twinkle in her eyes when we would discuss her own art work or together on a trip to the art museum in Reno looking at other work together. My thoughts are with the Sladek siblings this weekend remembering and reflecting.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Your mom was such a powerful, strong, grounded, beautiful woman. A real loss here on earth, but heaven is happy. I'm glad Steve and Gail were with her and that many of the rest of you had seen her so recently. Family was everything to her. I'm sure she was ready, and is now happily and lovingly reunited with your dad. Love and prayers,
Sharon

Dear Francey,
We are so sorry to hear your mother passed away. Living 92 years is a great achievement.
I really enjoyed the time I spent with your parents when they visited Lisbon, and glad I was able to meet them in person.
Both our families have been blessed with such fantastic parents who made great contributions to other people

Mrs Sladek was the most interesting and intelligent person that I have personally ever met. Her energy and enthusiasm for lots always made me Smile...I am reated to one of her awesome kids, and I say...the Apple falls close to its tree, and All of the Sladek people are also wonderful ! Mrs Sladek would say to me..." How are you doing in the Market?" what a wonderful resident to the place called Heaven she will be ! our family is grieving as yours goes through this difficult Valley, but we bothshare knowing that Victory is hers. May God rest her mighty Soul and let us think of the things we have learned, as great minds, Spirits and people pass through our lives...God is a Mighty God
