Merwin Marshburn, 86, of Jacksonville died September 8, 2018, at his home.
Merwin loved fishing and singing, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #564 A.F. & A.M.; First Baptist Church of Richlands; First Baptist Church of Richlands Choir, Nobel Order of the Shrine, Scottish Rite Temple; New River Harmony; The Barbershop Quartet; the Faithful Five singing group, and served his country in the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt Christopher and Eva Pittman Marshburn
He is survived by his wife, Ann Findeisen Marshburn of the home, one sister, Velma Valley of Jacksonville; and several special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Richlands with Rev. Dr. Don Christian officiating. Burial will follow at the Marshburn Family Cemetery, Cow Horn Rd. with Masonic Rites and Military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Richlands.

I first remember Merwin as an outstanding football player at Richlands High School when I was still in elementary school. Later on I came to enjoy his beautiful singing voice and his friendship. My most sincere sympathy to Ann and family!
