THOMAS J. HERBERT, JR. Thomas J. Herbert, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Mr. Herbert was born in Bayonne and was a lifelong resident. He was a true gentleman. Mr. Herbert was a warehouseman for Western Electric in Kearny for 29 years, retiring in 1984, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. An assistant for many funeral homes, he was an employee of Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. for 25 years. Mr. Herbert proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1947-1951. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann (nee: Lear); his loving children, Thomas J. Herbert III (Melanie), Mary Hope Zitelli (Paul), Kelly Ann Crisonino (Richard), and Faith Marie Sands (Christopher); his ten cherished grandchildren; and his three adoring great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Sophie (nee: Elbich) and Thomas J. Herbert, Sr.; and his dear siblings, Edwin Herbert, Ruth Adams and Lorraine Slagus. The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Henry's Church at 10:45 a.m. followed by interment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans' Cemetery, Wrightstown. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
