Edward R. Buvarsky, 75, of Enfield, beloved husband of Bernice (Bocwinski) Buvarsky of 54 years, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at Johnson Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 29, 1930, in Stafford and was a resident of Enfield most of his life. Edward served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was employed by Hamilton Standard as a purchasing manager for 41 years, retiring in 1990. He was later employed by MAC-LAD of South Windsor, until recently. Edward joined the North Thompsonville Fire Department in 1959, and served as chief of the department for 25 years, retiring in 1990. He was responsible for the implementation of the 911 Emergency Program for the town of Enfield, and was one of the first E.M.Ts in the community. He also organized the Enfield Fire Chiefs Association, and served as president of the association for several years. Edward was a longtime communicant of St. Adalbert Church. He loved working with his garden and his fish pond. He was affectionately known as Ampa by his grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
Besides his loving wife,Bernice; Edward is survived by two daughters, Dianne Clelland and her husband, Douglas, of Holland, Mass., and Bonnie Pettit and her husband, Larry, of Enfield; four grandchildren, Jessica Clelland Pope and her husband, Jay, Douglas Clelland, Kristie and Stacey Pettit; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Haley; and a sister-in-law, Ann Buvarsky of Suffield. He was predeceased by three brothers, Benedict, Francis and Robert Buvarsky, and a sister, Josephine Gibson.
Family and friends will gather Friday by 9 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, for a funeral procession to St. Adalbert Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Adalbert's Cemetery with military honors.
Edward's family will receive relatives and friends at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, Thursday 4 to 8 p.m.
