John Darsch Obituary

John "Jack" C. Darsch , age 66, died on Friday evening, May 24, 2013. He was the devoted husband of Mary F. (Eber) Darsch. Born in Plymouth, MA on April 2, 1947, he was a son of the late John A. and Arline (Giovanetti) Darsch of Plymouth. He was educated in Plymouth and was a graduate of Plymouth-Carver High School. He went on to graduate from Tufts University with degrees in History and Economics where he was also captain of the Tufts golf team and president of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Jack had worked for most of his life as a Sales Representative for the Etonic Company specializing in golf sales. He had lived for over 30 years in Windsor, CT, moving back to Massachusetts two years ago. He enjoyed golfing and coaching youth sports and was a lifelong sports enthusiast. As an amputee, he often volunteered to meet and mentor new amputees. It was important to him to make sure they knew after amputation they could live full lives as he did. Besides leaving his wife Mary, he was the loving father of Dan Darsch and his wife Sarah of Plymouth, and Sara Darsch and her husband Derek Silvia of Boston. He was the beloved brother of Nancy Darsch of Plymouth and cherished grandfather of Stella Darsch. Friends called at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth on Tuesday, May 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at the Cartmell Funeral Home. I was stunned to read of Jackie passing away. We were caddys together so many years ago at Plymouth CC. He was a great player and even a greater guy.

Sadly for us, the PCHS Class of 1965 has lost another member. Though I have not seen him since high school,I remember Jackie as "one of the nicest guys", easy-going,a ready smile, fun to be around. My sincere condolences to his wife and children, to his cousins,to his CT friends,to the youngsters he inspired. Fondly remembering you Jack,

Please accept my sincerest condolences. Jack was a very special person, who gave generously of himself. He was a wonderful mentor to many new amputees, who were in need of support and encouragement. I remember his undeniable spirit, from the early days when he was coaching and refereeing basketball during summers at Wethersfield with his new prosthesis. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
