Lena Stenback Obituary
Lena K. Stenback, age 104 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Oakley Courts in Freeport. She was born May 23, 1916 in German Valley, IL; the daughter of the late Frank and Lena (Julius) Kerkhoff, Sr. She married Robert V. Stenback on December 27, 1941; he passed on May 8, 2011.
Lena worked for the Savanna School District as an outdoor supervisor. She was also a homemaker, loving raising her family. She was a member of Florence United Methodist Church of Florence Station. Her memberships also include the DAV Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Florence Station Missionary Society. Lena enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards and games, especially with grandkids. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Jack Stenback of Freeport, Randall (Joyce) Stenback of German Valley, and Debra Stenback of Freeport; grandchildren, Joyce Rauen, Carrie Stenback, Keith (Paula) Stenback, Alyse (David) Gerard, Randall (Dawn) Stenback, Jr., Charlotte (Dan) Stoehr, DeeAnn (Marty) Heinrich, Derek Bastendorff, and Angela (Roy) Conkle; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; daughter, Marcia; 5 sisters; and 6 brothers.
A private family service will be held. Interment will take place at the Lane Cemetery in Florence Station. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name. Condolences may be shared with her family at www.walkermortuary.com.
