SACO - Leonard J. Burke, 95, of Saco, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016, at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 8, 1921, a son of John and Ethel (Doolan) Burke.
He graduated from Mission High School in Boston, Class of 1938. He also graduated from Boston Commerce School in 1939, and studied accounting at University of Southern Maine.
Mr. Burke was employed by West Point Stevens as a cost accountant for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Church, Good Shepherd Parish, and a member of the Biddeford Saco Country Club.
He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Mary A. (Murphy) Burke, on April 20, 2003; a daughter, Mary E. Melvin, in 1997; a brother, Donald, in 1994; a stepson, Steven E. Corey, in 2012; and a grandson, Michael T. Corey, in 1993.
He is survived by: his second wife, Jacqueline (Lemelin) Burke of Saco; a son, Thomas L. Burke and his wife Colette of Shapleigh; a daughter, Margaret A. Grandison and her husband Lindsey of Highland Park, New Jersey; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held at a later date at Most Holy Trinity Church, Saco. A graveside service will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

A kinder, gentler soul I have never met. Love you Grampy! Thank you for getting us into the smiley plate club as kids (by eating our vegetables) so we would 'qualify' for dessert. We will miss the story telling. You were a master at it!
