Hello esteemed Tartre cousin's
Hard to believe it’s been a year already. I hope you are doing well and living your best lives. I still find myself thinking of your mom even now. She truly put the kin in the word kind. I was a legitimate tyrant growing up and was treated appropriately by a lot of people who’s best memories of me were seeing me go. Aunt Mary Ann always made me feel me feel welcomed and loved too. God bless you all. Love Cousin Mark

Dear Tarte family,
I am so sorry to read about your mom. I have missed our church visits as she checked in about everyone. She was such a vivacious and energetic woman! Loved to watch my dad rile her up and how she would give it right back to him with that wonderful laugh! I remember her fondly from our St. Mary's days and all she did for both the school and church. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

To Mary Ann's Family,
I am so sorry to read about your mom's death. I knew her for many years as a UMF alumna when I worked at the university and she attended alumni events. What a vibrant and beautiful woman she was. The world has lost a special person!
My heart goes out to all of you!

Tartre Family,
I was very saddened to hear that your mother and my dear Aunt Mary Ann passed away earlier this week. I had so hoped to see her when I travel to Maine this summer. I will always remember her as one of the most loving, caring and kindest members of the extended Meader Family. I can't say a lot of great things came out of the Winthrop HS class of 77. In fact, many would say the best thing that ever came out of Winthrop was route 202 but the class song of the 77 class included a particularly telling verse that has Aunt Mary Ann written all over it. The song is by Paul Anka and I think it's called "times of your life". Anyway, the verse is " reach back for the joy and the sorrow and put them away in your heart, cause memories are time that you borrow, to spend when you get to tomorrow". I just turned 60 a few days ago and I am amazed how often I find myself going back in time to enjoy the abundance of fond and happy memories I have of spending time with Aunt Mary Ann, her loving family and the entire Meader extended family. The many Thanksgivings that she hosted with much help from her sisters were simply joyous with loud laughter emanating throughout her home on 44 May Street along with the traditional turkey day football games and countless cousins racing throughout her home having a ball. She transformed her living room into a colossal dining room with enough delicious food to feed a couple of armies. When you are a kid, you have no idea about the logistics of hosting such an event year after year but she shined and glowed throughout the day as the hostess with the mostest!! With great chagrin for not being more appreciative of her efforts back then, I offer my very belated thank you for all those precious memories that taught me what family was all about. I could go on and on as I reflect on the plethora of memories of times spent on Fairy Beach doing clam bakes, beach races and playing whiffle ball in the side yard, or the treasured times on Lake Cobbossee on the west shore by the Canning's place or the big house down behind the Augusta Country Club. It was always such a treat to spend time with Aunt MA, dear Uncle Henry and the always fun Tartre siblings. I'll never forget the image of Aunt MA driving her classic, bright red Mustang Convertible around. It was a perfect car for her loving and outgoing personality.
And so it is with profound sympathy that I write this note to express my sorrow at your loss Tartre Family but it's also with incredible love and appreciation for the way that your Mother and your entire family enriched my life as a young man enjoying all those family events you hosted that provided me with the "time that I could borrow to spend when I got to tomorrow. I remember those times just like they happened yesterday. Meg, Andy, Steven and Ann. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and I'll hope that we find a way to cross paths when I'm up your way this summer. God Bless!
