Mary Burns Frisch Obituary

Burns Frisch, Mary Frances Beloved wife of the late Robert M. Frisch, Sr. and loving mother of her five children "went to the Angels" on July 4, 2016. Mary left behind a profound legacy of loving kindness, compassion and "earned" wisdom for all who were fortunate enough to know her. She referred to them as her "Precious Ones". She suffered the deaths of many of her family members throughout her life with God's grace and her own brand of Irish courage. Mary was a Catholic and public school educator in Milwaukee for 38 years. She was a reading specialist who taught thousands of children how to read. She loved her profession and often stated, "When will America care about public education as much as they care about the military industrial complex?" We will miss Mary's wit, charm and dedication to all children everywhere. Mary was devoted to her own children and her life-long friends; the David P. Frisch Family, the Michael B. Frisch Family, the Mary Catherine Frisch-Bascom Family, John Andrew Frisch, Robert M. Frisch, II, the Arthur Gebhardt and Patricia Burns Gebhardt Family, the Judge George A. Burns, Jr. Family, the John Joseph Burns Family and the Tom and Gertrude Barrett Family. Deepest thanks to John Maher of Brett Funeral Home, St. Eugene Parish, Fr. Jerry Herda, Fr. Ken Herian, S.J., Stowell Associates caregivers and staff, Aurora Clinic for Health and Longevity, Mary Angela Dineen, R.N., Laura Weidensee, EastCastle Place, Jennifer Douglas, S.W., Dr. George Lange, Dr. Kanwardeep Singh, Dr. Burak Gurses, and the generous teams of virtuous and loving nurses, nursing assistants and medical technicians. They all contributed with their hearts and expertise to give Mary much joy in her life and later years. We will always carry Mary in our hearts and minds. She was "an original"! A celebration of Mary's life will be held at St. Eugene Catholic Church (7600 N. Port Washington Road, Fox Point, WI 53217) on Thursday, July 14 at 10 AM with a Memorial Mass at 11 AM. Donations in Mary's name are welcome to the John Andrew Frisch Scholarship Fund at Marquette University High School, Attn. Fund Development, 3401 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53208.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mary Burns. She was absolutely the best! Her passion to teach was matched only by her compassion for her students. I learned so much from her. I will truly miss her, to her family, I offer my sincere condolences.

Our friendship covered over 50 years. We first met at St. Sylvester's in the 60's. You were special with the kids and everyone loved your message of LOVE. You deeply cared about family, friends and children. Our Lord has called you to join John & Mary. Thank you for the memories and care that you have shown me over the years. Will miss you dearly. Our love to you & the family. Dennis & Ann Thompson.
