Alan L. McAdams

Alan Leo McAdams, born June 4, 1928, passed away peacefully, in his home, on the morning of May 10, 2020. Alan was 91, or as he would like to say, "he'd completed 91 years but was actually in his 92nd year". Alan was the youngest of Arthur and Celeste McAdams' seven children. He grew up in Mukwonago, WI, graduated from Mukwonago High School in 1946 and married his high school sweetheart, Janice Elaine (Jensen) on June 3, 1948. They moved to the south side of Milwaukee where they started their family and a few years later, in 1955, settled into their home in West Allis, where he resided for the remainder of his years. Alan's career path began at Sivyer Steel Casting where he worked in the foundry making castings. Later he moved into insurance sales with Catholic Forester Insurance, followed by sales and sales management for Liturgical Publications, Inc. In 1984 Alan helped his son start a printing business, McAdams Graphics, Inc., and finally joined him, full time, as General Manager where he remained active up to his death. Alan and his family attended Holy Assumption Catholic Church, became involved in the Catholic Family Movement, Home & School, Cana Counseling, Marriage Encounter, and Gabriel Richard, a group he later came to direct for the Milwaukee Archdiocese. Alan and his family joined Good Hope Family Campers, and this yearly camping trip, with his family and friends, was a favorite of Al's for 50+ years. Alan and his late wife, Janice, enjoyed travel and went on yearly cruises for many years. In his later years, Alan loved to be part of each and every family gathering. He enjoyed attending local sporting events, always rooting for Wisconsin. He was an avid swimmer, enjoyed taking care of his yard and lawn and was everyone's favorite dance partner. Big Al's playful humor, outgoing and warm nature, and hardworking attitude will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Alan was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Janice Elaine (Jensen) his third son, Dennis, and his granddaughter Julie. He is survived by 13 children - Timothy (Diane), Stephen (Marilyn), Daniel (Ada), Deborah (Richard), Christopher (Magdalena), Gerald, Peter (Judy), Michael, Patricia (Michael), Paul, David (Karen), Michelle (Daniel), and Andrea; 24 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many, many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association or to the charity of your choice appreciated.

My sincere sympathies on the families loss. The McAdams family was a friend of the Christensen family for many, many years. Al's humor which I believe somehow was passed onto my Father was truly a blessing.
Sincerely
Greg Christensen
