Burton Scott Obituary

Scott, Burton A. Age 72, of Somers, died Monday, April 2, 2007 at his home. Burt devoted 27 years to public service: as a government lawyer, prosecutor and judge. In 1964, he became Kenosha County's first corporation counsel, followed by five years as Kenosha city attorney. Elected district attorney in 1970, he was appointed county judge two years later and won a full six-year term in 1973. In 1980, Judge Scott was elected judge of the 12-county 2nd District Wisconsin Court of Appeals, based in Waukesha. For six years he served as chief judge of the entire statewide Court of Appeals. In 1991, he left the bench to become associate dean of the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada. The Scotts returned to the Kenosha area in 2001. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., from 4 to 6PM on Thursday, April 5, followed by a service of tributes and remembrances.
