Wow - how can it be 11 years since Donna left us?! Message to Donna - Lisa and I talked the other day and your name came up. We continue to love you and had a few laughs you would have enjoyed. My friend Steven (a RISDI grad in the 70's) visited this summer and he admired your paintings that Betsy and I have on display. All of this is to say that the beat goes on and you continue to dance with us! I haven't kept up with Tim and Nicholas and hope they're doing well. Hugs to all who were part of Donna's orbit...

It is stunning that is 10 years since we lost Donna. I miss her so much. I was not done being her friend. I wanted more time with her, more fun, laughing ... more of her warmth, humor and unique world view. I send her love, and am always longing for more time that we should have had together.

It broke my heart to hear about Donna leaving us. We were college buddies in the mid 70's and our friendship grew in Chicago where we both ended up post graduation. She worked at the wonderful Terra Museum of Art which wasn't the greatest job but was a great little museum. It's no longer there and I think of her every time I'm on that block. Donna was angelic and dear and her art and personhood lives on in all our hearts. Special sympathies go to Tim and Nicholas and all the east coast angels who helped to see her through this passage. The picture below is one of Donna's early ones and is on our main stairs. Donna died too young. As Edna St. Vincent wrote - "Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind; Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brace. I know. But I do not approve and I am not resigned." Godspeed, dear Donna. You brought a lot of beauty into a lot of lives.

Dear Tim and son, Jackie and Billy,

It has been my pleasure to know the Bruton family. Loretta and Denise lived in my building, I met Billy and Jackie along the way. I met Donna as we dragged moving cartons down the hall for Loretta! Loretta bragged on her family, and was so proud of Donna and her accomplishments in life, with her family and on her professional path. When the light of life leaves us here on earth, we find the heavens all the more bright. My condolences to you all.

My dear Tim and Donna's family. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. Donna was a dear sister to me and among many fond moments was our giggling about being mistaken for each other on the RISD campus. Please know that her love lives on in the art and beauty that she left for us all. I am blessed to have known her. Claudia

It's been a little over week since my dear friend Donna passed. I miss her love, joy spirit and sharing all of the minutiae of life with her. Donna's photo appeared in the Milwaukee Journal the day after she was born, with her parents. Her father, Billy Bruton, was the centerfielder of the Milwaukee Braves, an outstanding ballplayer and a wonderful man. We offer our sincere condolences to Donna's family and friends. Sincerely, the Milwaukee Braves Historical Association
