Josephine Mary Gottinger Notice
Gottinger, Josephine Mary (Nee Janschitz) Josephine, known as Josie, passed to Eternal Life Thursday, December 13, 2018, age 93 years. Graduated from West Milwaukee High School in 1943. Known for her musical talent, vocal, flute and piccolo. She performed with the Milwaukee Catholic Symphony and traveled with an all-girls marching band during and after WWII while working for the Gas Company. Married Edward Gottinger, March 31, 1951, who she'd known since grade school. Together they built a home in West Allis, was a homemaker and a charter member of Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Parish. She was a scout leader as cub scout den mother and girl scout leader. She played golf and belonged to the Whitnall Park Ladies League for nearly 30 years, golfing still at 89. She worked as a jewelry designer and then at Fox Company into her eighties. Josephine spent her last 20 months at Village of Manor Park where she enjoyed activities, making new friends and was named the Puzzle Queen. Husband Edward preceded her in death, Feb. 21, 1986. Loving mother of Joan (Thomas) Ballweg, Mark (Anita) Gottinger, Eric (Martha Haile) Gottinger and Gail Grider. Dear sister of the late Elizabeth Kneir and sister-in-law of Verena Gottinger. Preceded in death by 2 grandchildren. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the funeral home 5PM until prayer service at 7PM and Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Mother of Perpetual Help Church (Mary Queen of Heaven site- 2322 S. 106th St.) 10AM until time of mass at 11AM. Interment Wood National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Donate Life Wisconsin appreciated.
