Marvin Elliott Miller Notice
Miller, Marvin Elliott Died February 2, 2019. Born June 11, 1931 in Bay City, MI to Edwin Miller and Josephine Shriver. A high school graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, PA and a proud member of the Yale University class of 1954. He married his wife, Ann Doepke, in 1955, served in the Army as a Special Agent in the Counter-Intelligence Corps, then settled in Milwaukee, which became his beloved, lifelong hometown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Laura (Jake), son Alex (Michele) and five grandchildren: Jack, Maggie, Elena, Lexi and Billy. He was preceded in death by his sister Judy. He loved his family very much and they loved him. Marv was a true gentleman with a warm heart, treating his family, close friends and those whom he met with equal kindness, compassion and genuine interest. He loved a good party and was a remarkably good dancer, floating across the floor with a partner in his arms. His personality was highlighted by a great sense of humor, a quick wit and a deep voice that rarely whispered. His career included executive positions at Wrought Washer Mfg. Co., Smith Barney, Heritage Bank, M&I Bank and the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. He served as a Director of the Milwaukee Rotary Club, President of the Wisconsin Society to Prevent Blindness, Treasurer of the National Society to Prevent Blindness, Chairman of MIAD, President of The Milwaukee Club, and Treasurer of the Historic Third Ward Association. A celebration of Marv's life will be held in June. Remembrances in his honor to MIAD are appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff at Newcastle Place for their loving and gentle care.
