Rietz, Mary Ellen Schaeffler (Nee O'Halloran) Mary Ellen Schaeffler Rietz of Wausau and Brookfield, born to Eternal Life on September 13, 2018 at the age of 91. Mary is survived by her husband, Charles F. Rietz and was preceded in death by her late husband of 46 years, John S. Schaeffler. Loving mother of Kathleen (Schaeffler) Bowers, Thomas (Mary) Schaeffler, Lisbeth (William) Abell, William (Gail) Schaeffler, Ann (John) Berg, Judy (Gene) Noel and Robert (fiance Denise Prine) Schaeffler. Cherished grandmother of John Bowers (fiance Annamarie Lettiere), Andrew (Cydni) Schaeffler, Daniel (Tory) Abell, Kathleen (Logan) Blair, Robert Abell and Ann Abell, Michael (Jennifer) Schaeffler, Joseph Schaeffler and John Schaeffler and Steven (Becky) Noel. Proud great-grandmother of James and Elise Schaeffler, Bram and Edith Abell, Max and Quinn Blair, Jillian, Molly, Ryan and Eden Schaeffler and Lincoln and Preslee Noel. Stepmother to Peter (Kathleen) Rietz, Thomas (Darcy) Rietz, Shelley Gorman Rietz, the late David Rietz. Sister of her twin, the late Patricia (late Don) Roettgers and Thomas (Elaine) O'Halloran. Further survived by many family members and dear friends. Mary was a proud graduate of Mount Mary College with a degree in education. Mary taught 2nd grade at St. Dominic School from 1969 until she and her late husband, John, moved to Wausau in 1982. While residing in Brookfield, Mary and John were active members of St. Dominic Parish. In Wausau, she was a member of the American Association of University Women and volunteered at St. Matthew's Circle of Joy. Mary married her husband, Charles, in Three Lakes, WI. They have loved and enjoyed each other over 20 years. Mary loved, encouraged and supported her family. She was selfless and beautiful inside and out. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at St. Matthew Catholic Parish, 229 S 28th Ave, Wausau with visitation at 11 am and Mass at noon. A private family burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee. In loving memory of Mary, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Circle of Joy, 229 S 28th Ave, Wausau, WI 54401. .
