Proud grandmother of Alexander, Sara, and Matthew Brook. Dear sister of Ruth Smith and Michael Smith, and of the late Elizabeth Williamson, Rosemary Jeske, Edith Urben, Donald Smith, and Joan Fluhr. Dear sister-in-law of Dr. Robert M. (the late Sally) Schmidt. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Mary cared for others throughout her life as a sister, mother, Physical Therapist and volunteer. She graduated from Messmer High School in 1956 and went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science in Physical Therapy at Marquette University in 1960. As a Physical Therapist, Mary worked for Columbia Rehabilitation Hospital in Milwaukee, Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton, IL, and then for several home health care agencies in Milwaukee. Throughout the last 20 years, Mary found a deep sense of fulfillment through volunteering in the Milwaukee community at Agape Community Center, Milwaukee Achiever, as well as Open Door Cafe and Prison Ministry Support Group through the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Mary had a love for dogs and always had one at her side, especially her most recent companion, Lady. Mary will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. Mary's son and daughter will greet family and friends on Thursday, May 31, from 9:00AM to 11:00AM, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 812 N. Jackson St., Milwaukee, WI 53202. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following at 11:00AM. A reception will take place after Mass in the Atrium. The family has arranged for the parking meters on Jackson St. and Van Buren St. to be hooded for funeral guest parking. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary's name may be made to Open Door Cafe and Prison Ministry at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
