1923 - 2018 Notice Condolences
Mary Patricia "Patsy" Slauson Notice
Slauson, Mary Patricia "Patsy" Mary Patricia Slauson died on July 5, 2018 with family at her side. For the past year she has resided at Three Pillar Health Care Center in Dousman, coming there from her apartment in Chicago. Born on June 9, 1923, her birth certificate reads Mary Patricia Slauson, but we, in the family and her childhood friends, knew her as Patsy. She was born in Milwaukee to Eugene Vincent Slauson and Sara Fitzgerald Slauson. She was predeceased by her sister, Marilyn in 1993 and brother, Jimmy in 2001. She remembered, fondly, their childhood days growing up together in Wauwatosa. They were members of St. Bernard Church, attended Wilson Grade School, Hawthorne Junior High and Wauwatosa High School. The family had a summer cottage at Green Lake and they spent many happy summer days up at the lake. Patsy also had happy days at Beloit College where she was a member of The Delta Gamma Society. She worked in defense plants during World War II and she later moved to Chicago where she spent most of her adult life. There she was a member of the Young Republicans, The Chicago Art Institute and had a subscription to the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Patsy lived in Denver for several years. While in Denver she returned to school and graduated from the University of Colorado/Denver in December 1981. She enjoyed the adventure of foreign travel and vacationed in Europe, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas. Patsy looked forward to gatherings in Wisconsin with her brother's family and with her cousins and their families. She also welcomed their visits to her apartment in Chicago. Winters often were spent with her nephew, Jim Jr. and his family in Coral Springs, Florida. She always said she was fortunate to have such wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. Patsy loved to dance. When she was eight years old she took her first Dance Lesson at the YMCA in Milwaukee followed by several dance lessons over the years. After she retired from the Federal Government in August 1991, she joined County Bernie's line dancing group known as "The Posse." For over 15 years she performed with the group at senior centers, nursing homes and festivals throughout the Chicago area. Patsy is survived by nephews and nieces, Jim Slauson, Jr. Ann Hennings (Steve), Mike Slauson (Chris), Lynn Tyree-Cook and John Slauson. Also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends. We will all miss Patsy's quirky personality and we will continually be sharing her memorable stories. Visitation for Patsy will be held at Becker Ritter Funeral Home on Thursday, July 12 from 11:00 until 12 noon. Followed by graveside service and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery (7301 W. Nash Street) In Lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, to the Three Pillar Health Care Center Activity Department. Attn: Jane Olisar, 410 N. Main Street, Dousman, 53118. Patsy attended every musical program and donations will be used specifically for music and dance programs.
