Mary Rosina "Roses" Baer Notice
Baer, Mary Rosina "Roses" (Nee Lazar) Passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, at the age of 86, surrounded by her family. Roses was born to William and Aileen Lazar (nee Buckley) in Appleton, WI. Her father called her Roses from the day she was born and that name remained with her throughout her life. Roses graduated from St. Robert Grade School, Shorewood High School, and Milwaukee State Teacher's College. It was there she met the love of her life, Joe Baer. They were married on June 19, 1948. After teaching in Waukesha for one year, she and Joe moved to Baraboo where they had their first three children. After moving to South Milwaukee, having three more children, and raising her family, Roses returned to UWM to earn an M.A. in Reading. She first taught in the South Milwaukee School District and then at Milwaukee Area Technical College for ten years before retiring. Roses and Joe traveled extensively -- domestically in their beloved RV and internationally at every opportunity. They took more than 45 international trips, including China, Russia, Australia, New Zealand and their favorite destination, Ireland. Roses never met a person that she did not love, hug, and engage in conversation. She was a writer and loved to sketch vacation spots. She published a book of her sketches and life experiences called My Scriptographs. Roses is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joe; daughters Mary (John Kramp) Baer and Kathy (Rick) Monroe; sons Bill (Nancy) Baer, Dr. Tom (Bobbi) Baer, and Mike (Sue) Baer; and ten much-loved grandchildren; Nick, Marcus and Lucas Monroe; Michael, Andrew, Christina, Jon, Sophie, Ian and Megan Baer.
