Rachel I. Skalitzky Notice
Skalitzky, Rachel I. Entered Eternal Life on April 1, 2014, at the age of 78. Resident of Whitefish Bay, former resident of Waterloo. Beloved daughter of the late Gertrude (nee Malinda) and Valentine Skalitzky. Loving sister of Ernie (Betty) Skalitzky and of the late Barbara Skalitzky. Proud aunt of Debbie Kelly, Scott (Jenelle) and Marcus (Kenosha) Skalitzky. Great-aunt of Skyler, Ashley, Jacob and Antonia. Dear niece of the late Herbert, Irving and Selma. Further survived by other relatives and dear friends. Rachel had spent over 30 years ministering to many as "Sister Mary Gertrude Ann". She had taught for four years at St. Boniface in Milwaukee, one year at St. Anthony High School in Detroit and then went on to do graduate work at Fordham University in New York. Following the Convent Rachel became a Lecturer in Classical Philology at UW-Milwaukee and then an Eenured Associate Professor of Comparative Literature. Rachel retired from the University in 2003. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 8, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at St. Monica Catholic Church, corner of N. Santa Monica Blvd. and E. Silver Spring Drive, Whitefish Bay, followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Visitation will also take place on Tuesday, from 2:30 to 3:30 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Waterloo, WI followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials in Rachel's name may be made to St. Monica's Parish, 5601 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Whitefish Bay, WI 53217 or Holy Family Parish, 205 Milwaukee Street, Waterloo, WI 53594.
