1923 - 2013 Notice Condolences
Joseph Butschli Jr. Notice
Butschli, Joseph, Jr. Age 90, passed away peacefully at his home on November 11, 2013, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Survivors include Audrey (nee Wischer), his loving wife for over 68 years. Also survived by his brother Lawrence (Beverly) of Kenosha, sons Donald (Cheryl) of Green Bay, Daniel (Sandy) and David (Claudia) of Germantown. Beloved "Grampa" of Dawn, Tina, Paul, Alex, Adam, Andrew, and five great-granddaughters. Preceded in death by his brother Jacob, in 1991. Joe was born on August 28, 1923, to Joseph and Teresa at their home in Milwaukee. He graduated from Boys' Tech High School in 1941 and went on to complete his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker in just three years at C.B. Cottrell and Sons. He served in the Navy with the Carrier Aircraft Service Unit in WWII. Joe was a reader of history, and he was proud to be a member of the "greatest generation." He was raised during the Great Depression, dutifully served his country during WWII and contributed his skills to America's post-war recovery. On May 20, 1945, Joe married Audrey, the love of his life. He provided for his family with a dedicated 33 year career at General Motors' AC Spark Plug Division. Among Joe's proudest achievements was his role in developing the guidance system for the Apollo Space Program, culminating with the first successful landing of a man on the Moon. In their retirement, Joe and Audrey took pleasure in sharing their lives with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Introduced to golf by their sons, Joe and Audrey golfed together often. And nearly every weekend for well over 40 years, they enjoyed dancing to live music played by their favorite bands. The family wishes to thank our life-long friend Barbara, Mom's "adopted" daughter, who gave so much of her time and love during Joe's illness. The family also wishes to express its gratitude to Synergy HomeCare, whose staff came into our home and our hearts to provide care and comfort to Joe and the family. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 16, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at WISCONSIN MEMORIAL PARK, CHAPEL OF THE FLOWERS, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI.
