Grandpa having fun with Katie and Jonathan!
Marla Baker-Weiss
November 22, 2013
Bob was an awesome grandpa to our four children, Katie Lynn, Jonathan Robert, Nathan Joseph, and Kirsten Joy Weiss. He would come over to our house get down on the floor and play with them. I still remember him down on his hand and knees giving Katie and Jon pony rides (I think Bob must have been in his 70's). I wonder if Katie remembers when Grandpa came in her bedroom for a tea party, Katie was 5 years old. He would come over and play with Jonathan in the basement at our Brookfield home trying to get Bob's(Jonathan's dad) train running. I remember when I would have Grandpa come over to babysit with his friend June, so I could help Bob down at Shakers, and when I got home I found out that Grandpa would let the kids jump on the beds, good thing we did not have our waterbed anymore! I remember he would come over and give Nathan an airplane ride on his back, or push him on the swing in the backyard. Nathan and Grandpa would build tall building with Nathan's blocks and then try to drop things down the building without knocking them over. He would put Kirsten on his shoulders and gallop around the yard, or the time when Kirsten was playing with her doll and ask Grandpa to babysit her doll. Grandpa pretended to feed her doll, and Kirsten ask Grandpa if he always like playing with dolls? Of course his answer was, "yes" Kirsten thought he was serious. Bob use to make the best cookies, the ones I loved were the one with potatoes chips in them, they were very addicting. At Christmas he would make chocolate candy and bring them over for all of us to enjoy! But my best memory was Grandpa coming over and sitting down with the children and reading books to them, and oh, how they loved that. He was an incredible Father, Father-in-Law, and Grandfather.
Thank you for all you kind words, you will be missed.

During our camping trips, as we drove endlessly across cow-country Nebraska, we would point out the "killer haystacks" to our kids. We also had them convinced (briefly) that a ride threw a carwash was Disneyland! Condolences, Jim & Bonnie Hinckle
