Longtime Juneau resident, Gayle Carolyn Byrne, passed away on January 14, 2018 at 63 years young. Gayle was born on August 31, 1954 in South El Monte, California and moved to Alaska in 1973. She immediately fell in love with the Great Land and made it her forever home. Back in her wild youthful days, she was well known for her musicality and free spirit. For the last 17 plus years, Gayle lived a sober lifestyle and was a credit to her recovery community. Many people have known her to be compassionate about others' welfare and often devoted time to helping newcomers and serving the fellowship in Juneau and beyond. Gayle's spiritual nature was enhanced due to this change in her life.

Gayle had a long successful career with the State of Alaska. She worked for the Departments of Labor, Fish and Game and many years with Health and Social Services. For the last eight years of her life, she was happily retired with her husband, Bruce Dinneford, and enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. Gayle was a classy (and sassy), gracious, beautiful (inside and out), and loving woman who will be immensely missed by the many who loved her.

Gayle is preceded in death by her mother Nina Hahn and survived by her husband Bruce Dinneford, daughter Brook Larson, granddaughters Gabrielle Clark and Sierra Larson, step-children Bessie Hampsch and Ian Dinneford, father Philip Byrne, siblings Deborah and Kent Byrne, her dog Sophie and cat Maxie.

A celebration of Gayle's life will be held at the Juneau Yacht Club on Saturday, February 17th 1-4pm. The event will be potluck style and alcohol free. Friends and family are welcome to share loving memories. Please let her daughter Brook know if you would like to do anything special. She can be reached at [email protected].
